Ghostbusters:The Video Game Review

Game Being Reviewed is for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, and PC
Game was Played on Xbox 360

Ghostbusters...A movie I would consider one of the greatest comedies of all time. A movie I would consider to be one of my favorite movies of all time. But Ghostbusters never got a really good video game treatment. Just watch the Angry Video Game Nerds videos Part 1,Part 2 and Part 3. So when some video from a prototype version of a Ghostbusters Video Game was leaked on youtube, all of the Ghostbuster fans got excited. But the Zootfly version was never released. Instead Dan Akyroyd and Harold Ramis paired up and wrote a sequel to the Ghostbuster series, but wrote it for a video game. Ghostbusters: The Video Game was the result.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game takes place in New York 2 years after the second movie. The storyline is simple but a good one. A portal is being opened between your world and the ghost world and you have to close it before New York is taken over...again...

You take on the role as The Rookie. As The Rookie you get to experiment with all of Egons new toys. Your character is also a mute, which keeps all of the diologue between the four ghostbusters and other characters. This also makes the game seem like a movie.

The Gameplay is fun but short. The game never gets to the point of being too repetitive with four other "weapons" you can use to capture ghosts. But you will always find the proton pack to be the best weapon. The single player took me 7 hours to complete, which means it is a short game. But going through a chapter on proffesional shows that this game can take a little time if you are playing on the highest difficulty. But while the single player is short, once you are finished with it you want to replay it. Plus you can replay it for hidden artifacts which are scattered in every level.

Playing on Xbox Live was a blast. There are multiple game modes including a horde like mode called Survival, Protection, and a group of others. You can also play a campaign which takes three game modes and you play them right after another, this is another fun game mode to play. The maps are straight out of the game. You can play in downtown new york, library, and a few others. One problem with the multiplayer is that there is no set lobby. Once the game is over you are kicked out into the xbox live menu of the game. But that is only a small problem.

Final Note-Ghostbusters: The Video Game is a great game and a great play for any Ghostbusters fan. While the single player is short, finding artifacts and other bonuses might make it worth a replay. The graphics are good, not a top notch Xbox 360 game but definitly a next gen game. Xbox Live is a blast, especially when playing with friends.
